I think this is a little obtuse. His point is that the popular vote as we understand it is an artifact of the process we have. Like talking about which team made more three-pointers. If the point of an NBA game was to make more three-pointers, that’s what teams would try to do.

Ok, so my vote is worth about 1/1000th of a vote in Nevada. It’s bullshit

First of all, the rules of games change all the time (shot clock, forward pass in football etc.) is arguing for rule changes is not insane. Second, this is not a game, every presidential system modeled after America has collapsed, there is an issue of legitimacy.

Your system seems more like a different version of Basketball where you can get the most points but you still lose because the other team dunked more times in the 1st quarter.

The system is bs and the majority won't be accepting tyranny because the Founders made a pro-slavery mistake over 200 years ago

That’s not his point. His point is that he’s perfectly happy with the affirmative action system that boosts his power, and he has no interest in trying to win the votes of the large, economically powerful states that pay our taxes and are responsible for American prosperity.

The problem is that the US cannot go abroad telling how Democracy and free elections are good for all nations when it is not a Democracy. It’s like saying that counting 3 pointers doesn’t matter, just the total number of points when the game being played is chess.

elections held in this country every year are won by putting forward an agenda that earns most votes as chosen by actual voters. the electoral college is decided by which teams fans bought the most concessions in a world where every other contest rewards the top scoring team.

The only thing obtuse is Dougherty refusing to see liberals' critique as being of a system that doesn't weigh all citizens' votes equality.
