The difference is that teachers are in crowded classrooms with asymptomatic children and unable to adequately be at a safe distance or wear a mask. However a young teacher is less vulnerable than a teacher aged over 40. It needs a common sense approach. Then it’s carrying it home

But to which political party do teachers usually belong?

I'm mixed on this. Other people aren't expected to work in unsafe environments, so if the schools go back whilst there's still loads of virus about, it's only fair. Having said that, I can't see schools going back before the 2nd tier vaccines are done anyway, so probs irrelevent

But are teachers more at risk than workers on e.g. public transport? (Have seen no data on it). My fiancé works in early years education, unclear if she would be a “teacher” for these purposes, but the idea she should get a vaccine before our parents makes no sense to me.

Try telling a teacher who is supervising the asymptomatic children of other high-risk keyworkers (as they are the only kids IN school currently) with no PPE or social distancing possible that they are "low risk"
