Often find myself defending the BBC. I believe it remains a worthwhile and trustworthy institution in a world of too much fake news. But it can only fulfill that role if its major news programmes adhere strictly to impartiality. I disagree that it is clear he broke the rules. I accept that is a minority view that he didn’t but one of the key things about the BBC is that it doesn’t just parrot the majority view. Hold to account - yes, have a presenter read out one side of an argument as fact - no.
