Overall that was very detailed and open from Dominic Cummings. People who didn’t like him yesterday won’t like him tomorrow but the decisions he took at each stage appear reasonable in the circumstances (which doesn’t mean you have to agree with them).
Yep I completely get that and I think that’s largely down to the fact No.10 didn’t understand the likely public backlash on this and didn’t explain it early enough. I think any apology would have been hollow as I don’t think he believes he did anything wrong.

Yeah I think an apology would have been disingenuous looking at his body language today. Everyone’s clearly just a bit fed up and the mood of how this would be received was massively misjudged. As you say, needed to be nipped in the bud earlier
