We’ve had trials of Voter ID in #Woking for the last two years. 2 myths debunked:
1. It didn’t impact turnout
2. The Council will issue a free elector ID card to anyone who doesn’t have an acceptable form of photo ID.
That is pretty successful (and the 2019 figures were even better). If it were being used to suppress turnout, 1. It evidently doesn’t work and 2. It would be pretty silly given that in elections this century the results show the higher the turnout, the higher the Tory vote.

Woking was better in 2019, but others were significantly worst. 0.7% in Pendle. In Addiscombe East that would imply 28 people losing their vote. For Sanderstead Ward 0.7 implies 37 residents would lose their right to vote. https://www.democraticaudit.com/2019/08/01/five-things-we-have-learnt-about-englands-voter-id-trials-in-mays-local-elections/ …
