Three briefings this week from three different chief economists from three different global investment companies, actually. And also all the evidence and data from the last three years.
But sure, let's agree to disagree. #ProjectDelusion

But wait... let's look beyond the front page... Maybe you also disagree with these different experts which are quoted tonight — agreeing with this analysis of

Not everything’s Brexit related. The Q2 slowdown reflects wider global trends as shown by performance of other similar economies. But if you think this contraction is Brexit related and prior growth wasn’t affected, do you think we would have been ok if we’d left on the deal?

@ONS — Q2 saw a contraction in GDP, let's not fall for fudge language of a 'slowdown'. Agree it may not be a full blown recession. It is established fact that Brexit uncertainty is hurting the economy.1 antwoord 0 retweets 0 vind-ik-leuks -

To say 'not everything is Brexit related' is a non-argument and an obvious fact. By stark contrast, it is the established expert view that this economic contraction *is* Brexit related. (I agree it would be nice to talk about other things which shouldn't be hit by Brexit.)

I don't accept that prior growth wasn't affected. If nothing else the rise in inflation *due to the referendum vote* reduced growth within six months, via its direct dilution of growth within the GDP deflator. (That's called maths).

As we've got closer to leaving the EU (as the 2016 referendum indicated) and potentially leaving the single market (which has never had a mandate of any kind) uncertainty has got *worse* and this ideological political anchor dragging on the economy has become a bigger burden.

So to get to your actual question after wading through your sea or purposefully viscous fudge... No. I don't believe we would have been 'ok' leaving on the deal before March. I won't accept a smaller economy, poorer people, shrunken services as 'ok'.
