Not everything’s Brexit related. The Q2 slowdown reflects wider global trends as shown by performance of other similar economies. But if you think this contraction is Brexit related and prior growth wasn’t affected, do you think we would have been ok if we’d left on the deal?
I won't debate with someone who denies facts from the @ONS — Q2 saw a contraction in GDP, let's not fall for fudge language of a 'slowdown'. Agree it may not be a full blown recession.
It is established fact that Brexit uncertainty is hurting the economy.
To say 'not everything is Brexit related' is a non-argument and an obvious fact. By stark contrast, it is the established expert view that this economic contraction *is* Brexit related. (I agree it would be nice to talk about other things which shouldn't be hit by Brexit.)
The Brexiteer mantra has been reflection towards WW2 when the empire was in full vigour. Tailed off after Suez. Circle of Ouroboros. In a flash of hubris, England disappears up it's own arse.
Well, yes. We're still an amazing country, but standing alone in WW2 was a necessity, with the *prime objective* of allying with free Europe. This is a choice.
