True - also focus on pedagogy/subject knowledge CPD. The idea of a ‘gap’ is a deficit model. We don’t know what this ‘gap’ is - it’s an ethereal idea outside of raw data. An absolute focus on excellence is what’s needed - looking ahead. Not backwards.

I (foolishly) hope there will also be a conversation about where we're catching up to, and the realisation that a lot of the things that have kept kids going in lockdown (the arts, mainly) don't have enough importance.

I LOVE grammar, and have fiercely fought the fronted adverbial fight, but a lot of the grammar can go (I’m thinking specifically progressive & perfect tense, subjunctive, passive/active)

Most other things are necessary IMO as they’re just labels for things that help children to vary their sentence structures - which in turn improves their writing
