I know parliament's a little preoccupied just now, but when they have a moment, an amendment to to the current criminal damage law, so that it doesn't apply to illegally parked vehicles. Good for pedestrians, good for the angle-grinder industry.

Am I mistaken in thinking that although it's not currently illegal to park on the pavement it is illegal to obstruct the footway with a vehicle? How much evidence is needed (over a picture of a car totally obstructing the footway)?

Outside London and (iirc) Exeter, yes, that's the case, even though I wish it weren't. Most forces have a rule of thumb that it's not obstruction if you can get a wheelchair or a double buggy through the gap, but most will only grudgingly take action if there's ... 1/
