Are you completely confident that, when push comes to shove, quite a lot of the potential Tory rebels won't cave? I'm not sure I am.

I think they would, Clarke definitely as he’s chucking it as would the ones being de-selected as a 2 finger salute to the local party

Encouraging and well-argued, though I wouldn't put it past Flint and Hoey to side with the govt in a confidence vote in order to protect a No Deal brexit.
-
That’s already priced in. There are simply more Tories who’ll go the other way.

Do you have a whiteboard on the office wall with all the MPs names on like Josh Lyman in The West Wing? How exciting!

Is calling VONC in July a strategic error? I don't see Clarke et al supporting Labour in this until no-deal is the only remaining alternative. They will give the new PM a chance to renegotiate, however futile.
-
I agree. They will leave it till the 11th hour before they go nuclear and support labours vote of no confidence. July will be too soon.

Not sure about that. We’ve seen Grieve and co back down a few times when they’ve been given assurances by May (which were reneged upon almost instantly). I’m not convinced the same wouldn’t happen again. I’m still digging the bunker in my back garden, just in case.
