Lexit is one of those utterly fanciful ideas you wonder why anyone has to spend any time at all debunking. You have to swallow so many patently obvious falsehoods and improbabilities before you can even get anywhere near what is at its core an absurdly flimsy argument.

They're standing alongside racists, xenophobes, Tory spivs and Far Right extremists (not mutually exclusive) without thinking 'Hang on, these guys are my ideological enemies. Why do they think this is a good idea? And we're not both going to win, are we!' Bizarre.

Well said; and it's not just Lexit fans who spout this. A lot of right-leaning Brexiters use the "unfair on non-EU immigrants/trade" line to a morally justify Brexit. Most don't actually WANT immigrants from non-EU countries, of course, but they see it as a good argument.

I can't see how someone who wants less polish people because of the old lie about them being at fault for the housing crisis, the NHS trouble and their children taking british kids' places in schools would be ready to accept brown and black people who might also be muslim.

And wasn't immigration from non-EU countries higher than that from Eu countries over the last 20 years anyway?
