Mary Kaye and I congratulate our new POTUS/VPOTUS-elect. Transitions in power are a moment of celebration for some but high anxiety for others. The Joe Biden I know will embrace all Americans with calm and a much needed sense of humanity. Let’s heal our wounds.

America was built on free and fair elections. Still the envy of the planet. Once we lose sight of the things that bind us, how are we ever going to fix those things that divide us? As a Country First Republican, let’s get the basics right for the sake of the next generation.

Mary Kaye and I congratulate @SpencerJCox and Abby on their victory tonight. Kudos to @PetersonUtah as well for running a respectable race. Many important challenges ahead for a state we all love. Let’s all pull together and make it happen!

One of life’s greatest honors was working with colleague, mentor and fellow Utahn Brent Scrowcroft who, along with Utahn Fred Kempe brought me in to chair the Atlantic council. Time spent with Brent was a gift - a master tutorial in world affairs.

Still in anguish over the passing of great American, Herman Cain, from #COVID19. We shared fun times and memories during the 2012 Presidential campaign, including spoof videos and coordinating yellow ties for debates. Thinking of his sweet family. #hugelegacy

Public service is in our blood and whatever our next chapter may hold, I am confident we will find a way to continue to contribute to the good of our community.   God bless the Great State of Utah. 9/9

And most important of all was the support of my own family, who remind me every day one's most cherished possessions in life are those immediately around them. 8/9

They worked tirelessly in promoting our shared vision for this state. My family and I are eternally grateful for their support and friendship. 7/9

Since announcing our run just eight short months ago, we've had an incredible team of supporters & volunteers who have worked through unimaginable circumstances to move this campaign forward. Leading that list is my running mate, Mayor @M_Kaufusi , and her remarkable family. 6/9

However, I am heartened by the record voter turnout we saw in this primary election and I hope every eligible voter will exercise this most sacred right in November. 5/9

This was anything but a typical campaign season, with the COVID-19 pandemic making impossible our ability to meet face-to-face with more of the people in communities across our state. 4/9

Today the race was called, and we accept the will of the people, as is our tradition as Americans. The visions put forward for Utah were very different, and regret that I will not be leading the efforts in moving us towards a new horizon. 3/9

We were encouraged by many to apply our experience from four decades of public service to help our home state reach its destiny and full potential. Today, I am as sure as ever that Utah can become not just the Crossroads of the West, but the Crossroads of the World. 2/9
