This is disappointing, and - as Obama proved in ‘08 and ‘12 - completely unnecessary. Democrats shouldn’t be raising money from DC lobbyists. I really hope Buttigieg, Inslee, Hickenlooper, and whoever else is taking lobbyist cash will reconsider. You don’t need it!https://twitter.com/robillard/status/1120456826867286016 …

NEW: South Bend, Ind. Mayor Pete Buttigieg is the only top-tier 2020 Democratic candidate talking money from lobbyists, a fact highlighted by his upcoming fundraiser hosted by Steve Elmendorf. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/pete-buttigieg-only-top-tier-2020-democrat-lobbyist-donations_n_5cbe09d6e4b0f7a84a73681d?07h …

Interesting: After accepting lobbyist money - to the run of $30,250 - Mike Schmuhl, the Buttigieg campaign manager, says in an email to supporters that the campaign will no longer accept money from lobbyists and will return all they have received to date. pic.twitter.com/AcuuFkDiYE

Hi. Steve did not bundle for Obama, and the story you sent doesn’t say that he did. He bundled for Kerry and Clinton. We didn’t take contributions from federal lobbyists. Period.

My bad. It says "Buttigieg's increasingly popular presidential run has drawn the support of more than two dozen top Democratic fundraisers, including people who bundled big-dollar donations for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton." How do bundlers differ? Thx for responding.

No problem. Bundlers are just people who raise and collect a number of different donations on behalf of a candidate.

As long as he’s disclosing, really it seems fine to me. It would be nice if he didn’t at all, but not all lobbyists are shitty. And the big donor here appears to be a big supporter of LGBTQ since he is also gay, which is likely why he’s giving him money.pic.twitter.com/cuaETbw54T

I think it’s fine to be skeptical of this, but it’s not like he’s hiding that list, and he’s the most unknown of the top contenders. Dude needs money. He doesn’t have a Senate account to pull dough from.

I think it’s good that candidates are stopping this to some extent (state lobbyists have donated to all of them) and should set an example so that it changes, but until that happens, seems a bit dishonest for @jonfavs to say Obama was holier than thou.

They do need it, Jon, and you're naive if you think they don't need it. Turns out having real grassroots support is important if you want to be funded entirely by the people, and you need more than a media push paid for by the DNC!
