It's less baffling when you realize that his supporters have spent a good two years building up CAP head @neeratanden as some sort of comic-book villain who's in the pay of both the Democratic Party elite and the government of the United Arab Emirates.

Seriously: you can't get more than 3 tweets into Rose Twitter without seeing some sort of attack on Tanden. They're obsessed. She's a bigger fixation with them than Donald Trump or Mitch McConnell. At least some of Bernie's strategists must have known attacking CAP is red meat.
-
She's a woman. Sanders knows that his fan base get energized by demonizing women, so right know he has turned on Neera. He thinks this will work again. He has to act like a victim as he victimizes a woman. Same old song. He's been doing this since the 80's. He does now his base

That's part of it but it goes beyond that. There's a narrative of betrayal. CAP has been on the front lines of causes they care about for years, employed people who became big Bernie boosters like Lee Fang. That they weren't automatically in his corner really stung some people.
-
As a result, they went looking for scapegoats in CAP's leadership (Tanden, as a pro-Clinton WOC, was perfect), and built a narrative that this long-allied organization instead exists to infiltrate and undermine progressive causes. It's really sad.

This is Bernie's gig. Complain about criticism to make him the victim as he trashes others. Just look at his top folks, David Sirota and Nina Turner.

My biggest concern with Bernie was always that I’ve never seen him take responsibility for anything. He didn’t lose, it was rigged. His campaign guy didn’t hack, the DNC failed to protect, Jane does the tax returns, etc...
-
It was rigged, and
@wikileaks released emails proving it. Why do you think Hillary is screaming for Assange's head? it's because we saw what they were doing in those emails. -
The emails showed no such thing other than some folks had opinions. Bernie lost because he didn't appeal to the Democratic base -- women and people of color.https://www.nola.com/politics/2016/07/bernie_sanders_black_vote.html …
-
Did you really just whitesplain this to a person of color
-
From another POC. The emails showed no such thing except some folks had opinions (particularly about an actual Democrat running for president). Bernie lost because he didn’t appeal to black folks and never really got over the class over race and “identity politics” is bad thing.
-
Pretty sure the emails also revealed that every Democratic Party public communication had to go through Clinton’s Brooklyn HQ throughout the primaries to be approved, which is a lot more than “some non influential people had personal opinions”
-
That's an odd conspiracy theory.

Bernie has a lot of trumpian tendencies in my book. Just because he’d use those traits to enact policies I gravitate toward would make me a hypocrite.
-
That’s very untrue. I can’t think any substantive way that Bernie tends towards trumpian tendencies. That’s just absurdly false.
-
Won’t show taxes Barks out policy initiatives without consult or detail Tendency towards conspiracies Only aligns with the party when it suits him, splits when it doesn’t. That alone, to me, is an outrageously large red waving flag showing a serious lack of integrity
