Which makes it all the more bewildering and pathetic that Manchin, ahead in the polls, is too cowardly and soft to do the same.
As the only Senate Democrat who’s trailing in the polls, this was probably the most politically difficult vote that anyone in the caucus had to take. @HeidiHeitkamp did the right thing here, and we should all help her out today:
