Red tape needs to be stripped away and this project completed. We’re so far behind every nation that has these. They’re an incredible means of transportation that should’ve been adopted decades ago

I call it the "hole in the ground" strategy. Start a project, spend a fortune, and then claim that "if we stop now, all that money would have been wasted." They are RIGHT, but that money is gone -- no need to waste far MORE money on a useless fake-HSR rail line to nowhere.
