I've been testing a new response to whenever the kids complain. The formula is [acknowledge], [opportunity]. It’s incredible how well it works. Works on adults too.

First of all, there is definitely content that’s still up. No question. The more relevant questions are “Is the content still active?” (getting engagements? is the page still creating material?) and “Do the platforms know about the content?”

A missing piece of the analysis of faux outrage around Sarah Jeong being hired by the Times is that the goal of the outrage is not to get her fired; it's to use it as a wedge to polarize people into distrusting the media more. 4chan /pol/ calls this process "redpilling normies"

We found 40 events created or cohosted by the fake pages Facebook deleted this week. All promoted progressive/ left-leaning causes. Most expressly anti-Trump. Many were cohosted with legit grassroots groups.

I still keep thinking about what said in her testimony before the Senate Intel Committee yesterday, probably the most important (and overlooked) point raised in the session: The US needs an Information Operations Doctrine.

Spoke with the BBC this morning about revelations from that they'd discovered new attempts to manipulate US politics. I applaud the company's actions and transparency. However, this also serves as a reminder that disinformation is an ongoing, evolving threat.

Essential distinction made by in the Senate Intelligence Committee hearings - we have to separate questions of collusion from the larger threat of information warfare. Attacks on our information ecosystem aren't partisan. They're a threat to democracy.
