Interesting paper! And doubly interesting to get an honest reflection on it.
Possibly typo on p3: "finger-grained". Though we should do more things at finger granularity.

The most dangerous effect is a lack of decoupling resulting in different parts being „folded“ into one block, „specialized“, „optimized“ and later „unfolded“ into other parts because of the text length. Play this game few times and check how it „evolves“.

Bush, Licklider, ... invented IT to help knowledge workers not afraid of such loads.
Your claim is like "make nuclear physics simple" and limits possible goals. That is OK unless you want to build and operate real power plants.
