As someone who edited a story on his comments, I listened to them live. I read the transcript. Occam’s Razor: don’t overthink this. The real problem was that our president speaks in non-sequitur gibberish. As one who has criticized Trump for his "word salad" and flights of ideas during his speeches, this was actually one of the MOST precise and LEAST word-salady comments he's ever made. When you hear "MS-13" and think "all undocumented immigrants" ... that's on you.
