Mathematics is neither offensive nor defensive. It is simply mathematics. 100 - 44 = 56. Democrats blocked passage. And before the vote, Democrats said that was a good thing.

But the point is, the deals they’d been working on in good faith we’re screwed around with by the president and hardline Republicans. That Democrats didn’t cave does not mean they caused the shutdown.
