Blocked? They needed more votes than in their caucus. That requires negotiating with the other party. They didn’t. They’re unable to govern.

What the heck does that even mean? You state a scenario that didn't happen (where all republicans vote yes) and then put that in the fact category compared to the actual fact that some republicans voted against the CR?

So you’re asserting “Dems should have voted for a bill that was not bipartisan” instead of “Republicans have an obligation to put forward a bipartisan bill”? Why?

But...the Republicans didn't all vote for the stopgap measure. So, the headline is inaccurate.

And if the bill just needed a simple majority, enough Republicans opposed it to have blocked it.

How about “Republicans refuse to bring bipartisan bill to floor, fail to round up votes for partisan plan.”

So the fact that Republicans couldn't muster 50 votes is a result of Dem obstruction?

“did McConnell need democratic votes for this to pass?” and “was there an agreeable means of getting those votes?” are operative questions here and the answer to both is a resounding, all-caps YES
