Every president makes calculations on US strategic interests. Every president has made accommodations for the Saudis. No president has entertained the dictator of Kazakhstan — until now.

And that the US on both sides of the aisle have always made accommodation for the odious terror-sponsoring Saudi and Qatar Wahhabist dictatorships over some elites perception of "strategic interests" (over countries like Kazakhstan) showcases the moral bankruptcy of said elites.

So you should begin a crusade to ween the country of all imported oil and relegate Saudi Arabia to the same strategic value as Kazakhstan. Then your "but Obama did it" argument would make sense.

The US receives less than 6% of its oil from the Gulf now. I would recognize Saudi and Qatar for what they are - the actual real biggest state sponsors of terrorism and the Wahhabist ideology that drives it around the world. I oppose Clinton, Obama & Trump & neocons all on this.

But in light of US ongoing longstanding alliance (no matter which hand of US duopoly is ruling atm) with the odious Saudi, Qatari & Bahraini dictatorships (and others around the world), I will take and call out faux-moralizing on Kazakhstan for what it truly is - partisan noise.
