Actually, Charlotte got their first female black mayor. Three previous black mayors in the city of Charlotte were male.

Charlotte has had TWO black mayors before this, Harvey Gantt and Anthony Fox.

I’m from Charlotte originally and we’ve swung back and forth over years but always been a more Dem leaning city in NC. I grew up with Harvey Gantt as mayor, voted for him for Senate and am as disgusted by Trump as all the rest. Don’t doubt us Southern women!
