I assure you the very last thing any victim wants to hear is “now when I look at you all I see is your abuse”

My little girl is a gymnast and all she sees when Makayla is on TV is a champion. This just makes her stronger in my opinion.

So many awful stories. This particular one has been in the news for about a year here and it keeps getting worse.http://michiganradio.org/post/former-olympic-gymnastics-and-msu-sports-doctor-larry-nassar-returns-court …

Point is, as so many others have said, this isn't just Hollywood.
-
Agreed. These stories don't discriminate based on industry. As Maroney says, anywhere there's a potential for abuse of power

I don't quite agree that the photo is sad, but her story is obviously tragic and frightening. It can happen anywhere, to anyone; That's sad.
-
It's sad bc our current "president" is an admitted sexual predator, fyi
-
Right, but we knew about that over a year ago... so that doesn't seem related to this. The photo is fine. The larger situation is messed up.

No its not. She was a survivor then & is one now. What happened was appalling, but she survived and had a moment of joy during that pic.

Why is Barack's photo next to this story? Very sorry to go off topic. I'm just confused.

Winning the Olympics and being a living meme with Obama are things to be proud of. Why diminish that because now we know she was victimized?
-
We should respect her persistence and bravery more, now. Not paint her accomplishments as tragedy.

No women don't want your pity. It happened and she was strong enough to still go to Olympics And win. Strong enough to speak up now.

Start looking at the men around you, their behaviors, and how you’re going to call them out when they joke about doing this stuff to us.
