Children of Men is one of the best-directed movies ever. The plot (why would a society on the verge of death hate refugees) is very weak.

no-screenwriters grafted an open-borders polemic onto a society-is-dying-due-to-birth-dearth plot and the two made no sense together

I dunno, seems like other parts of world were worse off than the UK in that film, and in any event irrationality is not always unrealistic
