Perhaps it will eventually lead to abolishing the archaic Electoral College. Long overdue.

One of the purposes of the EC is to overturn elections of someone who would be a threat to the Republic.

I don't have high hopes the EC will fulfill this duty, but it's supposed to be a safeguard.
