      Growing your own food is very satisfying. We like to pop outside, pluck some greens, &throw them on the pan after a rinse. It’s WAY better for the environment, too.       I may be dumb to try to grow broccoli in the DC summer, but I am not joking about gardening. We live off our kale and arugula all summer, though our strawberries were disappointing. I'll keep you posted on our tomatoes. And you should get a gander of our compost pit!

          glad you don't live in some ivory tower in DC...and I was serious about brocolli, it is a cool weather crop...didn't really get why you criticized AOC about backing gardening but it is in fashion to attack her... ..maybe you were joking..I HOPE

          I just tried broccoli in my garden the first time this year. It definitely doesn’t love heat, so the hotter it is as the florets grow, the more likely they are to just flower. I did learn picking in the morning rather than afternoon produces much better results!
