Has there ever been a president who has lifted a brutal dictator like this for so little gain? FDR made common cause with Stalin but that was WWII. Reagan loved Ferdinand Marcos but we had enormous military bases in the Philippines. This is just weird.https://twitter.com/Scavino45/status/1145279863831425024 …

Americans should worry that Trump finds psychological compatibility with so many authoritarian global leaders while scorning many leaders of democratically led countries. He seems drawn to monolithic power figures, not to mention linear thinking

It does nothing for diplomacy this. The “Chairman” is still a brutal, brutal dictator overlooking a country that still puts people in camps and he kills who he wants when he wants. Trump just wants land and money, nothing else.

Gain for who? Just because the gain is not obvious to us, doesn’t mean someone isn’t getting something out of it. A good, strong, independent press might be able to uncover it, but .....

I get it, in that it's a thing that's been hanging around forever - every president in living memory has had to deal with NK in some way. So it's symbolic if he "succeeds" bc he can say he did what no other president could. But rest assured, any deal Trump makes will be a loser.

All those millions around the world, suffering at the hands of dictators, sold out by that pompous, lying fool. He's selling out the US as well, and the shit's gonna hit the fan sooner or later.

Not weird at all--unless we are looking for political gain. If we only look at the gain he is looking for, it's huge. What gain? His own TV fame. Internationally. Every time he pulls this shit, they put him on TV & feed his bottomless ego. Lifelong goal consistency: lies & fame.
