I know there's a lot of news, but this moment marks the first of the Democratic House majority when the moderate "majority makers" split in a substantive way with the left. Because the subject, border and immigration policy, is so emotional, this could leave some lasting scars
To refresh, @SpeakerPelosi moved to add policy strings to Senate border spending bill over objections of @senatemajldr McConnell. @SenSchumer was oddly AWOL. Then the House mods revolted, demanding a clean vote on the Senate bill. Pelosi is cornered and the liberals have lost.
The @NRCC line is amusing but wrong: “The socialist youngsters have spoken, and it is time to take away Nancy Pelosi’s driver’s license since she is no longer capable of driving her party’s socialist clown car." It wasn't the left that embarrassed her. It was her moderates.
And there is is, @SpeakerPelosi is defeated: "As we pass the Senate bill, we will do so with a Battle Cry as to how we go forward to protect children in a way that truly honors their dignity and worth. Thank you for your continued leadership to protect families."
