His point is that Jon and the heroes should have been yelling that to the Senate, the actual body obstructing their cause. It is a certainty that the House will reauthorize. Senate GOP are the ones standing in the way.

Can't pressure the Senate for an issue the public doesn't know/care about. The point was to make the issue news
-
Are you seriously suggesting the public doesn’t know about something that’s been an issue for 17 years?
-
... yes. They assume it's done. Taken care of. Why wouldn't it be. Large portions of the public assume the ERA amendment is already a part of the Constitution...

Oh brother. Why is it that even the most obvious truths today inevitably trigger some technical parsing that stands those truths on their heads to score imaginary debating points? Stewart was right; the responders deserved better. Period.

What an utterly ridiculous statement. The 1st Responders deserve an audience and because their voices aren't heard loud enough, Jon Stewart represented them well. Showing Jon Stewart's heartfelt argument brought to light how Congress is inept to honor heroes.

Jon Stewart is trying to raise awareness. There are Americans who have no idea that A, 9/11 first-responders are dying of cancer and other diseases related to working in the 9/11 ruins and B, Congress has not yet fully funded financial relief for them. It’s shameful.

Imagine having a garbage take this bad and still being unable to resist typing it out to the world. Congrats missing-the-point guy

He used the hearing as an opportunity to shed light on a worthy cause and lo and behold here we are talking about it. Do you think the Senate is more or less likely to pass something now that the video has gone viral?

-
Unfortunately the Senate is controlled by soulless GOP members, led by the most soulless of all men, Louisville’s own, Mitch McConnell. They won’t provide healthcare to sick children, what makes anyone think a viral video will convince them to protect anyone else.
-
I didn’t say it was likely. I said it was more likely. In his speech Jon Stewart already documented the ways that McConnell has screwed around with this funding in the past.

It's called respect. Come out to thank and listen to the heroes they claim to appreciate.

No, Jon doesn’t deserve an audience, but the first responders do. They shouldn’t have to fight to get what they need. Jon is the recognizable, articulate and caring voice they need to be heard. If not for him we wouldn’t know how poorly these men and women have been treated!
