Just Zillowed South of Broad. Not affordable! Got a suggestion for an in-town neighborhood?

Chicago, Austin, both Portlands, Pittsburgh, Philly, Nashville, Asheville, Charlotte, Charlottesville, Charleston, all of Vermont, Seattle...

You're only vaguely acknowledging the affordability criteria, unless you're talking about Charleston, W.V., and some Nashville and Seattle I don't know about.
-
You didn’t set any hard criteria and affordable is subjective. They’re more affordable than NYC/DC/SF/LA. But those cities are more affordable than London. Which is more affordable than Dubai.
-
Seattle is barely less expensive than LA and is creeping on sf. Also it's insanely sports crazy. Delete it
-
Philly is also crazy about it’s sports teams. Buti grew up there never going to a game. it’s not the only source of pride for the city. Same in Seattle. That place has a ton it is rightfully proud of.

I was in Buffalo recently and really struck by the revitalization going on, and that's a town that's always had fierce pride.
