Father Chacour embraced the "Canton Solution" to the Israel-Palestine conflict, modeled on Switzerland. Israelis and Palestinians would live in a united, democratic country. Jews would have a government, Arabs would have a government, and they would share the federal gvt. 2/
That would address his concern that a 2-state solution left out Arab Israelis like him, whom he felt were treated as 2nd-class citizens. Now I am sure that you would say the Canton Solution would destroy Israel as a Jewish state, that demographics would work against the Jews. 3/
And that is a legitimate view. But his view is legitimate as well. Ultimately they are opinions. If you know Father Chacour, and you just might, you would never ever call him an anti-Semite. He does not have a hateful bone in his body. So why should he preface his opinion ... 4/
on the Israel-Palestine issue with your opinion? Political opinions are what they are. Listen, discuss, but I do not believe one should necessarily have to be delegitimized before it is even spoken.
Jonathan, omitting the preface isn’t perforce anti-Semitic. I believe you he isn’t. Supporting a one state solution’s not ab initio Jew hatred. But as his proposal would obliterate the only Jewish nation in the history of the world, I’m less than fully sympathetic.

Mr. Weisman shares the same views of Jews and Israel as Arthur Hayes Sulzberger had.
@nytimes stop shoving this Weisman guy down our throats. If you want someone who knows anti-Semitism and is respected by the Jewish community then Rabbi Wolpe is the man. We don't need a Farrakhan apologist peeing on our legs and telling us it's raining.
