There is enough real, virulent and deadly anti-Semitism in the world. Politicians shouldn't be manufacturing opportunistic attacks. /1

I may question @RashidaTlaib's historical facts but when she told @Isikoff and Skullduggery podcast of her "calming feeling" about the Holocaust, she was saying her Palestinian ancestors sought to create a safe haven for Jews after World War II and paid a terrible price for it.

If you want to argue the history of Independence-era Israel-Palestine, fine. You should. But suggesting that @RashidaTlaib found pleasure in the Holocaust is beyond wrong. Curious what @Isikoff thinks.

I agree that she did not express any positive regard for the Holocaust. But her claiming that the Palestinisn Arab people "created a haven" for the survivors is a blatant whitewashing of history, and a sad attempt to give the Arabs credit for the incredible efforts of the 1/

It was the British policy of seizing such shops and putting their passenhers in internment camps which helped turn international opinion against their mandate. For Tlaib to now claim that the Arabs were, in any way, helping the Jews find safety is an insult to the struggles 3/

It's not a question. It's a historical fact. The White Paper of 1939 was the British response to placate the Arabs. It cut off nearly all access to Palestine when it was most needed.https://israeled.org/white-paper/

But that's just not true. Palestinians tried to fight Jewish immigration to Palestine and even collaborated with Nazis. These are well-documented facts. How can you call yourself a journalist?

I once wrote here and will repeat I'm a historian about Nakba. Since our history was written, I interviewed over 1000 refugees. I always asked: how ur relations w/ Jews prior to nakba? Almost always they said perfect to good All can be seen here https://www.palestineremembered.com/OralHistory/Interviews-Listing/Story1151.html … Follows

Cringeworthy interview, in so many ways, including a naive call for world peace by a politician when asked an incredibly complex question and ignoring #colonialism BUT to say #Tlaib thought the #holocaust was “calming” is just not true luckily people don’t have to READ to clarify
