On today's Daily: After decades of unwavering support for Israel--starting at its birth, when the GOP was skeptical--Democrats are dealing with charges of anti-semitism. How did that happen? A story so big we have two guests: @SherylNYT & @jonathanweismanhttps://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/19/podcasts/the-daily/israel-democrats-ilhan-omar-rashida-tlaib.html?rref=vanity …

In your opinion. You have zero clue as to what we did and what we said directly to principals behind the scenes. Not everything has to be done in public and on social media.
-
Amid vicious anti-Semitic attacks, I pressed and pressed until the RJC released a masterpiece of equivocation: “We abhor any abuse of journalists, commentators and writers, whether it be from Sanders, Clinton or Trump supporters. There is no room for any of this in any campaign.”
-
In the heat of the campaign ANYTHING we would have said would have been weaponized by the Democrats. Our statement was unequivocal and balanced.I see you’ve commented on the commentary about Omar but haven’t stated your position as to whether, you find her comments anti-semitic.
-
I said that suggesting Jewish money was driving foreign policy "all about the Benjamins" was an anti-Semitic trope, just as the buying of an election by Jewish billionaires was an anti-Semitic trope. I do not know what is in the minds of Ilhan Omar or Kevin McCarthy.
-
Really?? You’re creating an equivalency between a pattern of anti-Semitic comments by
@IlhanMN and one inappropriate retweet (immediately taken down) by@GOPLeader who’s got a decades long record of standing with the Jewish community shoulder to shoulder. Really?? -
This is not an anti-Semitic trope. This is anti-Semitic hate and it is what many Jewish journalists wanted you to speak out against forthrightly, without equivocation.pic.twitter.com/TSk69J7yn3

Where’d we equivocate?
-
You said nothing for weeks and when you finally spoke out, you condemned bigotry among the supporters of Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump at a moment when Trump supporters were trafficking in imagery like this:pic.twitter.com/1C3mKLT5C3

Except that the issue isn't the response of the
@RJC or even the@USJewishDems, but that the problem is endemic, affecting quarters of both parties, and demands an effective counterweight from w/in both@GOP and@TheDemocrats.https://twitter.com/ShalomLipner/status/1095412219943272454?s=19 …Thanks. It’s true that AS is politicized by some who are guilty of it. Imagine how some of us feel when Linda Sarsour raises money for murdered Jews or Jewish cemeteries. This podcast had a sinister & conspiratorial tone. The only thing missing was was a graphic of an octopus.
