Honest question: I’m not sure how or when “Democrat Party” became a Republican pejorative but if a GOP leader is making an appeal across party lines, why doesn’t she use “Democratic leaders”?https://twitter.com/Liz_Cheney/status/1094796808851730432 …

I’m not defending this Jonathan but this goes far back to DeLay, Lott, Gingirch. Heck, Dole used to say “Democrat wars”. This isn’t new. It’s actually really old. What’s your point?

My point isn’t that it’s new. I think it goes back to Reagan but it has always been used as a slight. So if Cheney is trying to convince Democratic leaders to join in the condemnation, why use the pejorative “Democrat leaders”? It makes the overture sound unserious.

It actually goes back to the 1950s. They’ve been doing this for a very long time.

Of course it’s unserious. She doesn’t want the Democrats to condemn Omar - she wants to continue bashing them with it. Do you really think Liz Cheney is going to say “good job Democrats!”

Most of us on the right have no clue what Dems are talking about when you go down this rabbit hole. We truly do not understand what is seen as the difference between the 2 terms and therefore use them interchangeably.
