Bush and Obama lost some emotional, high-profile legislative battles. Bush walked away from partial privatization of Social Security. Obama walked away from universal background checks after Sandy Hook. Imagine if they declared national emergencies & enacted them?
Bush could have plausibly declared the pending Baby Boom retirement and attendant drain on the budget an "emergency." Obama could have declared the slaughter of 20 children and 6 adults an emergency, after so many mass shootings. They didn't. They accepted defeat and walked away.
You would have lionized Obama and vilified Bush. It's all politics with you.
Imagine if you gave some honest thought to the current issue and refrained from making inane analogies and posing even more ridiculous what ifs.

This dangerous precedent that Lindsey Graham is supporting is just insane. What happens next time when we have President with all that power who knows how to move the levers of government. I hope we don’t have another amoral President.
