The stakes in Bush v Gore were the presidency and the entire executive branch. In retrospect, the outcome quite literally changed the world. If anything the fight wasn’t hard enough.

In this case, the votes should be counted without disruption. Court cases should be heard and decided without drama. And everyone mobilizing for war should remember that the outcome will not change the balance of power in government.

That is all. Now everyone go back to your screaming. I have laundry to fold.

Not counting every vote would undermine my confidence in Democracy.
-
By "every vote" do mean votes by illegals and unregistered voters, too?
-
Hi Burt. Illegals and unregistereds make up a significantly insignificant amount (essentially zero) of voter fraud. What is being currently counted are mail-ins (inc. military) and population centers. That’s what every vote means — just as I’m sure you want your vote counted 2.
-
If the "insignificant amount" is even ONE, that is too many. It's still ILLEGAL.
-
No arguement. And I understand how it a convenient talking point, but voter fraud is not really a thing. Voter disenfranchisement is. That affects hundreds of thousands. https://www.brennancenter.org/analysis/debunking-voter-fraud-myth … Anyway, have a nice day.
-
Have you not seen what is going on in Broward and Palm counties? Fraud is rampant. And chronic.
-
BS. The FDLE even said there's been no fraud found. I vote in Florida and it's nearly impossible to vote fraudulently. Have to show pic ID then a signature match. Absentee voters have to have signature match 3 times then it records you voted so you can't vote again.

This tweet by a New York Times editor demonstrates that the New York Times is irretrievably broken.
-
I read my 10 articles a month and make a point of NOT subscribing. I subscribe to the Washington Post though.
-
I canceled my subscription bc of puff pieces on Nazis & countless pieces on Trump supporters w/little to no discussion of the fact that racism was a significant reason many voted for him. Now, a NYTimes editor is suggesting that we not count all votes that were cast.
#Shameful. -
From what he wrote here, only "democracy" has a specific meaning. And it means the opposite of what he is advocating. I am literally sickened to my stomach by his implication that the confidence of 50% of the voters does not matter.

Yes, it *is* just you. This is a remarkably wrong-headed statement, esp. from the Deputy Editor of the NYT. I'll tell you what will 'undermine confidence in our democracy:' not counting ALL the votes. Get a grip. If you're burned out, take a leave.
-
Bravo. Well said. it is not insisting on integrity of an election that undermines confidence. That it is even necessary shows confidence has already been undermined by voter suppression, gerrymandering, intimidation, compromised equipment choices before the first vote is cast.
