Republicans who believe Democratic protesters are paid professionals remind me of Democrats who said the same thing about Tea Party protesters. Believe what you want. Nov. 2010 was the reveal to Dems. Let’s see what Nov. 2018 brings.

Tea party was developed and funded by the Koch brothers. And many of the protestors were home schooled evangelical kids, who don’t have access to quality educationhttps://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_2663125 …

It's been well documented that much of the so-called Tea Party was astroturf.

That does not invalidate its impact on the elections from 2010 onward and its destructive influence on subsequent governance (or lack thereof).

Who started it is irrelevant. People still believed in time and used it to sway elections.

It's irrelevant if who started it has no money to support it. That was not the case with the Tea Party.

There's an important difference getting obscured here. It's one thing for a Soros or Koch to give money to groups that organize protests. That doesn't mean the protesters themselves are "paid."

Lots of Tea Party folks were sincere, and there was also LOTS of Astroturfing. Whatever the source of funds, the vast majority of Dem grassroots orgs are and have always been real.

The tea party was phony - in that their supposed "concerns" about liberty/debt were fake. it was astroturf exploiting racism. remember all the concerns about debt? Bull shit. they hated the black president helping less privileged people afford health insurance.

ACLU paid to fly 150 lawyers from Anchorage to DC to protest and lobby Murkowski. Maybe they were paid amateurs.

For the record, and in case we do meet up again, I am concerned about November. Less about the Senate than the House. But I also know that the media, allied with paid organizers, makes this all more than it would be organically. And I think 🤞 Kavanaugh has helped more than hurt.

My memory was not claiming individual protestors were paid but accuratately stating the movement wasn’t a grassroots origin- it was AstroTurfed by multiple groups.
