I asked a US Army colonel once why the fences are so high along the Han River in South Korea. He said every few months, N Korea throws a soldier in the river with a gun & a life jacket and tells him, float down, kill South Koreans.
There’s a spot marked in the DMZ where a US soldier was sent out to chop down a tree to improve sight lines into the North. He was set upon and hacked to death by North Korean soldiers.
