This is true, as long as you define vote suppression to exclude "Republican laws designed to discourage voting by Democratic constituencies by making voting more of a hassle."https://twitter.com/baseballcrank/status/1379063522731159553 …

Real talk: in America today, there is not a whole lot of voter fraud, but there is more evidence of actual voter fraud than there is evidence of actual voter suppression.

The problem, of course, is that that's exactly what voter suppression is.

National Review has consistently argued since the 1950s that voting is too convenient and voting laws should make voting harder to produce a smaller, "better" electoratehttps://nymag.com/intelligencer/2021/04/georgia-vote-suppression-baseball-all-star-atlanta-boycott-republican-jim-crow.html …

They obviously don't like the term "vote suppression," but their objection is to the semantics. Their belief is that voting can and should be made less convenient -- it's only "suppression" if it's literally categorically illegal to vote.

Yes. GOP states do the same thing that Comcast does to keep you from canceling your service: make the process time consuming enough that a % of people have to opt out of trying in order to live their real lives.

in #Texas you have to go further back in the process to see the extent of #VoterSuppression...the bureaucracy involved with getting a photo ID so you can vote. It's not just the #GOP legislators...it's the state's departments that are also complicit in suppressing the vote.

Lady have you ever even been to TX? I was born/raised there and it’s easy AF to get ID. Fun story: I moved north a few years ago, got my purse stolen w/ wallet+passport inside and it was so hard to get an ID in my new “more-liberal” state that I just got a new TX license instead.

Filing taxes is an obligation - voting is a right. There is already a 'level of effort' in every state. Voter participation increased in the last election without evidence of material levels of fraud - so why the sudden interest in making it harder to vote?

Talk to Chris Krebs, and voting rights attorneys in the US justice Dept. and get back to me on this claim, I think it would be, shall we say...illuminating.
