I think it was done to prevent exactly that attack with unquoted paths- would love to see the class reanimated with that trick. there is some quirks with permissions on volume roots. you cannot append to a file in the root because of needing HIGH integrity
but,if you manage to make a service create a file that is an alternative data stream on the root- now you can append to it :)
