There is lots of things wrong with windows- also many good things. There is two small things that constantly pisses me off though. 1. When you press winkey but that popup startmenu do not get focus- useless. Its there- but you cant type.
its crazy- windows search rapes my system in cpu , api entries when logging etc. that data is used to make start menu searchable- but it works like crap, would rather it only search in actual things in start menu. everything though- barely noticeable, and its search is INSTANT
everything first open volumes raw and parse the MFT directly, instead of opening every dir and enumerating all files- then it suscribes to usr journal updates. ive seen it index 10 tb in 12 seconds....its just quality software.
you can disable indexer completely (entire service), and start menu search would work just like you want (actual shortcuts, fast). Web search is disableable too, of course. So just a matter of default configurations.
