Have any of you experienced anything like this? My system gets converted to a virtual system and boots up under hypervisor. C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\ef02f8d02134254e816a122b3eb99adc\WindowsUpdateBox.Exe Prepares it all, then on boot I am a VM

Is this because of Virtualisation Based Security (VBS) getting automatically activated? I experienced this once on my Surface Go (not sure if it is exact same as your experience) and I turned it off by disabling hypervisor from BCD.

no- nothing with VBS, you can run under a hypervisor without using hypervisor based security

Oh I see. However, does turning the Hypervisor off helps here? (e.g. that "bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off" command)
