Wow, this is irresponsibly bad journalism. You're talking about women voters but only mention white women's votes specifically. You treat African American voters as a monolith but separate white voters by gender. This is so, so terrible.https://twitter.com/jonallendc/status/940867082501218309 …

98% of African American women voted for Jones; in politics, that is monolithic. I’ve written about the importance of African American women in elections before (http://www.rollcall.com/news/opinion/clinton-owes-her-commanding-lead-to-african-american-women …), and I will do so again. Last night, drop in white women’s support for GOP was more striking.

But more to the point, the story was about women of all colors rejecting Moore. The lede was not race-specific and the first data point was 58 percent of women (ALL women). voted for Jones. I broke out white women because they voted so differently than they usually do in Alabama.

I replied to one of the first people to Tweet at me - if not the first - and have replied to everyone who has emailed me to discuss, rather than having a public debate with everyone who Tweets. “Women” includes women of all colors and was intended to. Black women were #1 demo 1/2

for Doug Jones. Black women are the #1 demo for Democrats in Alabama and for Democrats across the country. I have written a lot about that in the past and will continue to do so. The *shift* in voting behavior among white women, even thoug most were for Moore, was striking 2/3

If exit polls were right, white women provided as many votes for Jones as black men - in Alabama! From a historical standpoint, that’s remarkable. But the really remarkable thing is that 58% of women - 98% of black women and 34% of white women - voted together to sink Moore. 3/3.

Guess when you consider the sheer numbers; the balance of ethnicity in Alabama that would pan out. Just another take. Thank you for info...

If it interests you, here’s a piece I wrote this week that talks a lot about the often-ignored importance of Alabama and other Deep South states in presidential elections.
