They believe it gives them leverage to compromise on the rules, witnesses, etc. But it doesn't. McConnell doesn't want to have a trial. This just plays into his hands.
Someone please explain to me the logic of the Democrats holding impeachment at the desk and not sending to the Senate.

the logic is that it's not in their interest to see him acquitted in the senate, so if they can do something to prevent that from happening, they should do so
