Most people don’t even know why “the dream shall never die” speech resonated so deeply with the Convention full of disappointeds. Unlike Reagan’s ‘76 Convo speech, there was never a second act.

Two guys who could really deliver from the podium. For my money, Reagan’s “no substitute for victory” was a smart/genuine way to rally his disappointeds to Ford - like the Rs who weren’t in love with Trump but found themselves pumping their fists in the air on election night ‘16.
