I find arguments about whether story points represent time or effort to be tiresome. You can get by just fine without points. There are better ways to do everything you might do with points. Points haven't been part of Scrum for years. Orgs that use them are living in the past.

I hate to think of the number of hours wasted across the industry investigating why end to end tests are failing.
Push automated testing down to lower levels. If you can’t do this you have a design problem, not a testing problem.

Homeschooling might work for you, research first.
