As Mother Jones said, “The capitalists are always organizing.” She also said, “If, for instance, instead of striking in small groups, every industry in America were to hold up, the capitalists would be obliged to yield to any and all demands, for the world could simply not go on”

just a reminder that a lot of Trump's most harmful policy decisions (like slashing food stamps) are the product of mainstream conservative ideas that will not be defeated by simply ousting Trump

seems weird to present the decision to endorse a candidate polling in single digits as one based in "realism"

"The best chance of passing progressive legislation is to elect someone who doesn't support it" should be a hilarious argument to any thinking person. The Times has no actual explanation of how this would be true, of course. It's just vague references to "bipartisan credentials."

some real slippery logic here. because the Dutch have a mediocre ACA-style system we should actively aim to copy them so as to avoid the dread "purity test"? why exactly?

a Democrat with a long history of advocating Medicaid cuts, and austerity in general, cannot offer a credible alternative to Trump's ongoing assault on the safety net. Pretty simple

Enough video evidence shows how Biden’s being particularly Trumpy abt his willingness to cut SS/Medicare. Also worth noting: In the oral hist, Obama aides openly discuss the WH putting entitlements on the table during the 2011 budget wars. Biden led those talks for two months.

Is everyone in the media and DC just going to pretend Obama and Biden didnt spend like two years trying to get a "grand bargain" which included Social Security cuts? This is madness it was the top story for weeks at a time

A few months ago mainstream outlets were saying Evo Morales was inciting people to violence by telling them to protest, thus justifying the coup. Wonder what the response to this will be

I know this punitive attitude is widespread among Democratic primary voters but it’s vile, a major engine of our world-beating incarceration rate, and it’s sad to see any presidential candidate espousing it. The opposite of moral leadership.
