Just one comment: anyone who says “learning has to go online tomorrow” at 8pm the night before has clearly not done much of either teaching or learning.

If had any honour he would resign. If MPs had any honour they would demand it. If the whole ridiculous bunch of them had any honour they would apologise for what they have done to our country.

Spare a thought for heads and staff today. Williamson handed them half a plan for mass testing on the last day of term. They were sent changing plans throughout the Christmas holiday. They changed lesson plans. They’re professionals. They get on with it. But they deserve better.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has admitted on live TV that schools help spread the virus. And yet today, with a new strain that is out of control, he was happy to send pupils and teachers into classrooms, putting lives at risk. Unforgivable.

Please note that when the Prime Minister makes his announcement tonight, any changes he makes to “national measures” apply to England only. Here in Wales we already have stay at home restrictions. Diolch to you all for staying home - you are protecting our NHS and saving lives.

What I’ve learnt about schools this year is that by the end of today everything will be sorted, routines and systems will be in place and they’ll be cracking on with the job. Schools, headteachers, school staff. You continue to be amazing. You’ve let nobody down.

Keir Starmer - “why does he think Britain, 6th richest country in the world, with brilliant scientists & amazing NHS, ends the year with one of the highest numbers of COVID deaths in Europe & the deepest recession of any major economy?” Boris Johnson floundering, has no answer

Johnson’s excuse for screwing up - I was too busy focusing on . Johnson’s excuse for screwing up - I was too busy focusing on . The fact is he lost interest in both - if he was ever really interested in either - a long time ago.

If a deal with the EU really does come down to herring, as it seems it might, who gives a squid? Is this really worth the grief? Why not simply compensate UK fishing boats for any losses and just move on?
