As we all know, the FDA is now recommending boosters for certain people, and I personally know a number of people who have had breakthrough infections - some of them, quite troubling. Yes, Powell had myeloma, but I was still stunned to hear of his passing from COVID....
..we live in the same town, and we would occasionally run into each at the local sandwich shop. His death is a loss for our community and our country. I plan to get a booster as soon as possible.

So getting the first two doses really worked…. Hmmm…. When we were told by the same people of their safety and effectiveness ….that changed….now we are running out to get another jab BELIEVING THIS TIME? People are blind with fear that they are acting stupid!
You directly and deliberately used General Powell's death, without *any* context, to cast doubt on the long term effectiveness of Covid vaccines. It doesn't get much more anti-vax than that.
Multiple myeloma history should have been a part of your comment, not questioning the efficacy of the vaccines. Don’t be defensive, just do better.
Thank you for this clarification, but it was less concern about anti-vax sentiment and more the "let's draw large epidemiological conclusions from one person's experience" that was troubling.
You could follow this up by saying to get vaccinated to protect those like Powell and others who are immunocompromised. 
You forgot the part about Colin having multi myeloma - a horrible blood cancer.
You do understand the the shot doesn't prevent your from actually getting Covid, right? It will keep a majority of the people who get the infection (breakthrough) from being hospitalized or seriously ill from it. 
Just like seat belts don’t prevent you from getting in an accident.
